Return of the Meetch

Hey there. Remember Me? It's been a while. When I first started this blog, I planned on posting all my reviews on movies and things but I never really got around to it. I got lazy. Really lazy. So, here we are. It's been about a year since my last post and a lot of good movies have caught my eye. I could go into great detail about my favorite movies from last year (cough, DRIVE), but it wouldn't really matter. I'm looking ahead to the future. 2012 looks to be one of the most promising years for fanboys yet. Big comic book movies like The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises will crowd the theaters, but there are also smaller, artsier (is that a word?) films such as Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom and the Duplass brothers' Jeff Who Lives at Home. And those are just to name a few.  Now matter how you look at it, 2012 is gonna be one hell of a year, and I'm pretty excited. That's my post for today. I just thought I'd finally post something to let my fans (all two of you) know that I'm not dead. Yay!

Dead Island Trailer is Incredible.

I don't play that many video games. Id rather be watching a movie or an episode of the office than sitting on my couch with a controller in my hand. That's not to say video games are bad, but I just dont really get around to playing them that often. However, the game Dead Island suddenly popped on my radar after viewing this trailer. It looks really special.

I say special because I have never seen such powerful storytelling in a trailer. Ever. The narrative of the little girl and her family is so powerful, it almost brought me too tears. It kinda feels like a pixar zombie movie. Woah. That would be amazing. Get on it Disney. Anyways, I really enjoy this trailer and the song playing throughout the chaos is also very powerful. Im anxious to see if the game lives up to the trailer. Thats all I got for today. I'll start blogging more frequently. I promise. Peace.
On second thought, this is one of the most terrifying things I have ever seen.  Don't ever do this Pixar.

Captain America poster released, nerdgasm ensues.

Captain America: The First Avenger. I have been anticipating this movie for about 3 years now and soon, I,  along with many other fellow geeks, will know if it was truly worth the wait. Judging by the poster, it is defiantly looking to be THE comic book movie of the year.

I love the sheer grittiness of the poster.  It looks very Saving Private Ryan-esque and incredibly dark. The suit looks badass and equipped for greatness. I can't wait for the teaser during the super bowl. Is it bad that I look forward more to the trailers than anything else in the game?  Anyways, this movie will be the last standalone film in the marvel universe until The Avengers, which is my most anticipated movie of 2012. Its gonna be epic.  So thats all I gots for right now. Mitchman out.
What a nerdgasm looks like. Just relax there Kevbot.

Opinions on the Big Lebowski

I was just watching one of my favorite movies, The Big Lebowski. It really felt like the first time I watched it , considering the previous times were on TBS when all the cuss words were dubbed to "freakin" and "shoot".  Now, the Big Lebowski is about a guy named the Dude who walks home one day from the grocery store  to find a guy peeing on his rug and gets beat up by some strangers and stuff. Lets be honest here, the plot isn't that big of a deal. And thats ok. Jeff Bridges plays the character with such a suave, egotistical mindset that the entire movie could have taken place on Mars and I wouldn't have cared. The characters in this film are so developed and fresh, I wanna put them on a turkey sandwich... if that makes any sense...at all. Anyways, I really like the Big Lebowski. Peace.

Why Scott Pilgrim is Important

Oh Scott Pilgrim. Words can not describe how much I love this movie. It is fresh, it is bold and it is fast. If you are a person who can't sit through 2 minutes of dialogue without any explosions, this movie is for you. There aren't that many explosions per say but the editing in the movie is quick and sharp. Which is why I love it. The movie is basically about a guy named Scott Pilgrim (duh) who wants to date a girl but, (twist!) he has to defeat her seven evil exes in order to so. Scott is played by Michael Cera, who I thought was rather dry and dull until I saw him in this role. One thing I love about this movie is its cinematography. The movie is shot like a weird video game from the 80's. It has random pop ups and energy bars, floating icons, floating text, etc. It also has a great score. The opening track is super awesome and I wake up to it every morning. Not kidding. Its that good. Another thing I LOVE about this movie is the characters. My favorite ex is probably ex number 2 aka Lucas Lee portrayed by Chris Evans. He's a typical action movie star hot shot and he's a parody of many action stars (Stallone,Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, even Chris Evans himself to some extent...) In the movie they briefly show mock posters of some of his movies. Below is my favorite one.  So thats basically all I can say about Scott Pilgrim as of right now. There are so many things I love about this movie, I can't write them all down at once. Ask me about it tomorrow and I'll tell you 5 other things I love about it. Peace.

New Spiderman costume revealed!

When news of the spiderman reboot hit the internets a year ago, I was devastated. How could anyone EVER follow up the level of genius that Sam Raimi had created with his spidey franchise (excluding venom in spiderman 3)? Well friends, now I see. About two months after the reboot was announced Marc webb was locked in as director. Now, not only has this man directed (500) days of summer (one of my favorite movies...EVER), but his last name  is Webb. Coincidence? We'll sure... but thats a pretty awesome coincidence if you ask me. And this past summer, relative unknown actor Andrew Garfield was cast to dawn the red and blue tights. Garfield gained a lot of mainstream attention from his role in the Social Network, where he played Mark Z-Berg's main man Eduardo Saverin. He was superb in that movie and was the key part of the story.  Yesterday the first photo of him with the spidey suit came online. I think he looks pretty good. Whaddabouchu?

Suck on it Zuckerberg!
So the new suit... I think it looks pretty good. Its a lot slimmer and thats actually a good thing. Peter Parker is a gangly high schooler, not some buff bodybuilder.  Its colors are also much darker. Are they going for a grittier, more realistic tone? I dunno. Mabes. Thats mah blog for today. Keep your eyes open for my Scott Pilgrim blog. That should be kewl.  And if in 5 years Sony decides to reboot the franchise once more, they'll know who to cast for the lead. This guy.

Word.
